Boiseans Sam and Eric Herrera started ERTH Beverage Company in 2018 with the mission to create a healthy and delicious drink. The company now produces over 20,000 cans a month and will be launching in Albertsons later this summer.

ERTH’s drink is called a switchel – which is a prebiotic recovery drink that’s made with honey, apple cider vinegar, and cold-pressed ginger.

“We found the original recipe for switchel in an old farmers almanac,” co-owner Sam Herrera said. “It was basically the Gatorade of the 17th century.”

According to Herrera, the drinks are sweetened only with raw Idaho honey and real fruits and herbs that are cold-pressed or extracted in-house.

“We strive to make a product that tastes great and is great for you. There shouldn’t be a need to comprise either of these,” Herrera said. “It is excellent for recovery from physical activity, as an afternoon pick me up, or as a mocktail/cocktail base.”

The drink – which comes in Raspberry Ginger, Turmeric Lemon Ginger, and Spiced Pineapple flavors – is full of prebiotics, enzymes, and electrolytes. The Watermelon Switchel comes out each summer and the Rainbow switchel, which has apple, carrot, beet, and ginger, will be a new addition this year.

ERTH beverages are made at a brew house in Garden City on 52nd and Chinden Blvd.

“Boise is our home and the perfect place for a company like ERTH. We are surrounded by people who care about their planet, their bodies, and their neighbors,” Herrera said. “It is a rapidly growing city, and we are grateful to have a hand in how it grows.”

In addition to being launched in Albertsons later this summer, you can find ERTH’s drinks at several locations in the Treasure Valley including the Boise Co-ops, Lemon Tree, Payette Brewing, and Lost Grove Brewing.

ERTH also has monthly subscription boxes that are delivered in Boise, Eagle, and Meridian.
