He even designed and executed the very first digital display ad in the State of Idaho way back in 1999 (Caledonia Fine Fabrics - which was followed very shortly thereafter by Farmers & Merchants).

Idaho Today

Conceptualized, launched and executive produced the daily Idaho Today lifestyle and business segments for KTVB. Taking over a timeslot previously used for news content, added a two-minute paid content program for businesses to share their messages. Using credible production techniques and a prime timeslot during the Today Show, the segments was an immediate success.

I wonder series

Weekly digital series "I Wonder" which answered unique questions from the audience with reporting and insight. Series added a weekly television component. Writer, producer and presenter.


Don has been invited to speak to groups large and small across Idaho to discuss media, the social landscape and digital topics. Appeared with noted local thought leaders Jessica Flynn of Red Sky PR and Lisa McGrath of Lisa McGrath LLC to discuss the changing media and social media landscape. Hundreds of civic leaders attended the event - and an edited version aired later on Boise State Public Radio.

Ignite Boise

Invited to be a speaker at the initial Ignite Boise event. Discussed how his I Wonder series began and is powered by social media.

Oppenheimer Ethics Symposium

Participated in a group panel discussion during the Oppenheimer Ethics Symposium at the Idaho Statehouse. Discussed how media ethics are evolving along with the media itself.

Don is versed in a wide variety of social media, and started and led the effort to build Idaho's most-followed social media network - with more than 240,000 total follow actions across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The KTVB social media network is a pioneer in the state - starting a Facebook page on the first day they were made available on the platform, and driving more likes than any Idaho-based and focused brand. The station's Twitter and Instagram followings are also industry-leading and are focused on driving monetizable metrics.

Personally, Don has built a unique social following - and pioneered the #BoiseDev program that follows local development news, store openings/closings and building projects. Starting as a Twitter effort, #BoiseDev now encompasses an email newsletter, LinkedIn posts and a website with a catalog of all items. His former effort was the state's most-visited blog during the second half of the 2000s, and he was given a second place award in the Best Blogger category in the 2008 Boise Weekly Best of Boise voting.
