Tavern at Bown Crossing sued for eviction

EXCLUSIVE

Boise’s Tavern at Bown Crossing has been sued by property owners for eviction.

The southeast Boise eatery opened as the anchor restaurant in 2005 as part of the then-new Bown Crossing development.

Last week, the property owners sued in Ada County District Court and asked a court to require the restaurant to move out.

“Defendant waited too long to get the required appraisals for the option to purchase from plaintiffs,” the property owners wrote in the suit. “Defendant and plaintiffs could not agree on a lease amount within the time stated by the lease agreement. The option to purchase, and lease deadlines have passed, and plaintiffs want defendant to vacate the property.”

An attorney for the owners of the Tavern says while they haven’t yet formally responded to the suit, they hope to resolve the issue.

“The primary part of the dispute revolves around the purchase option,” attorney Dean C. Sorrensen with Cantrill Skinner Lewis Casey & Sorensen told BoiseDev. “It is (his client’s) intent to enforce this. They hope to resolve this matter and they are in discussions.”

Sorensen noted that Tavern at Bown Crossing has long been a success.

“My clients are excellent tenants,” he said. “They have been there for ten years, and they hope to continue to do so. They hope to resolve the dispute.”

Representatives for the property owner declined comment.

The two-story restaurant features a bar, patio seating and separate sushi bar area. It also has meeting rooms on the second story and upstairs patio.

The owners of Tavern at Bown Crossing branched out with what was termed a separate restaurant earlier this fall in the Owyhee Plaza. The Owyhee Tavern Steak & Sea carries a modified menu and expanded space.
