Stinker plans new McCall store

After a total rebuild of its gas station and convenience store in Donelly, Stinker is looking to add a location in McCall.

The Boise-based c-store chain is in the pre-application process to build a 4,000 square foot store at the corner of Lake St. (Highway 55) and Boydstun St.

At the suggestion of McCall city planners, the building will face Lake St., with four Sinclair Oil-branded gas pumps behind. Stinker officials say they may also include a laundromat.

The idea for the station is to provide fueling services on the west side of McCall, which could encourage drivers to use the McCall bypass route that runs from Deinhard Lane on the south side of the city to Boydstun St. on the north. City planning and zoning officials agree that the new station could help alleviate some congestion in downtown McCall, which can be clogged with drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on popular summer and Winter Carnival weekends.

The project could move forward later this year.
