Boise’s Library Plaza is being converted into an Asian-themed shopping area, complete with an architectural makeover and new shops.

The shopping center on Cole Rd. at Ustick is home to a Boise Public Library branch and a smattering of other retailers – and will soon be renamed Idaho Asian Plaza, complete with a remodel and makeover.

Peiking Tokyo Asian Bistro is proposed for the former Boise Barber College location in the center – to be owned by the Utah developer behind the project, according to permit filings with the City of Boise.

A $120,000 buildout on the space would add a kitchen and space for 86 diners.

Elsewhere in the shopping center, the Idaho Capital Asian Supermarket is set to open in September.
