On one corner you have Epic Shine, a Meridian-based chain of Idaho car washes.

And on literally the other corner you have Rocket Express, a Twin Falls-based chain of Idaho car washes.

In Meridian and Twin Falls, the two sudsy SUV soakers are battling it out.

Rocket Express first incorporated in Twin Falls with a location on Blue Lakes Blvd. in 2010.  Epic Shine opened up its first location in Eagle on State St. in 2013.

In Meridian, Epic Shine has a location at Chinden Blvd. and Linder St.  Rocket Express has announced a plan to open one on the other side of the street at the same intersection.

In Twin Falls, Rocket Express has a clean car conveyer belt on Blue Lakes, while Epic Shine has applied to build about 1.5 miles away over on Pole Line Rd.

Rocket Express owner Joe Russell told KMVT that competition is part of the game.

“We don’t think ill, or speak ill of any competitors nor any of our people but neither do we shy away from competition,” he told the station.

Rocket Express Meridian is set for a third quarter 2019 opening. Epic Shine Twin Falls is set for spring, 2019.

Update: First Rocket Express opened in 2010, not 2009 as previously reported.
