Is that Amazon Books store coming to Meridian? An update

In March, plans were filed with the City of Meridian for an Amazon Books location in the Village at Meridian.

But months later, the space the plans earmarked it for sits empty, and the permit application remains unfinished. Amazon didn’t reply to requests for comment at the time.

[Amazon Nampa? Yeah, probably. Here’s the evidence]

Village at Meridian General Manager Hugh Crawford told BoiseDev that Amazon is “not a tenant that is coming to the Village at Meridian.”  He notes that the space, formerly home to Paperie + Pen is actively being marketed for other tenants.

It is one of just a few spaces in the Village area around the fountain that remains for lease. Crawford said occupancy is over 90%, and his team is working on a planned expansion toward Eagle Rd. with an announcement on form expected for next year.

They are also working on plans to fill the large space left vacant when Toys ‘R’ Us declared bankruptcy and liquidated all of its stores.
