Certified Kitchen + Bakery hopes to start serving customers this summer in a building with a long history in Boise’s Hyde Park.
BoiseDev first noted a remodel of the old Certified Cleaners spot at 1509 N. 13th last November, but filings were light on details.
Now we know what the owners plan.
Lizzy and David Rex are working to follow up on The Wylder with a new concept in Hyde Park. And though the menu will be different, it will have a bit of a through-line from The Wylder.
“The 52-year-old sourdough starter they use for their pizza dough at The Wylder will make an appearance in the form of English muffins for stacked breakfast sandwiches,” Certified’s website said.
The dough starter won’t be the oldest thing on premises though. The building itself dates to the 1903-1912 timeframe according to
Certified Kitchen + Bakery is set to open this summer, with those breakfast and lunch items served counter-style. The Rex’s plan Baked goods, breakfast items, “butcher-style sandwiches” and salads, plus take-and-bake meals like pot pies and enchiladas.
Lizzie and David moved to Boise last year to open The Wylder – just five months after they crossed state lines. Now, just about another five months forward they are set to branch out with their second restaurant.
Certified Cleaners closed in 2017 after 67 years in business.
