Restaurant-focused grocer plans Meridian location

Smart Foodservice – formerly Cash & Carry – will open its third local location in Meridian in coming months.

The specialty grocery store, aimed at the restaurant industry, will open on Jewel St. in Meridian near Fairview Ave. Meridian issued a permit for a $2.5 million, 20,000 square foot building earlier this year.

Smart Foodservice operates two locations – in Downtown Boise on Shoreline and in Nampa. The mini-warehouse stores are open to the general public, but cater to the restaurant industry – selling items specifically targeted to the needs of foodservice.
