New fund to help make over Nampa’s downtown area

Downtown Nampa is starting to come alive with new businesses and activity.

And a new fund aims to add to the momentum.

The National Main Street Center, City of Nampa, National Trust for Historic Preservation and the National Trust Community Investment Corporation teamed up to launch the program. The Kevin & Mary Daniels Fund already has $100,000 to help fund exterior facade improvements in the downtown core area

Here’s how it works: commercial property owners in the area of downtown can apply for a no interest loan to spruce up the outsides of their buildings. The funds can also match the Nampa Community Development Block Grant Historic Facade Rehabilitation Program.

The fund is named for Kevin and Mary Daniels. Kevin Daniels owns a real estate firm based in Seattle and grew up in Nampa. He serves on the Main Street Center’s board.

The application period opens July 17th.
