The STIL plans another location on Boise Bench on old car wash site

The STIL continues its steady expansion in the Boise area.

The ice cream-and-alcohol concept started in Bodo in 2017. A new location in Boise’s Barber Valley opened in August.

Now, the ice cream shop could move into an old car wash on the Boise Bench.

As BoiseDev reported late last year, local developer Jay Story hopes to repurpose the old car wash at 13 St. Latah for a mix of uses.

In an updated application filed this week with the City of Boise, the plan changed slightly.

“New Building A will house the STIL production kitchen and scoop shop, and will be clad in corrugated metal steel with a small parapet for screening rooftop equipment,” an application letter from B.Hills Architecture said. “Approximately 400 square feet of the building will be dedicated to a scoop shop with around 1400 square feet for kitchen and storage. The scoop shop area will have an interior/exterior counter with an overhead door facing south into the shared exterior area.”

A new building along Latah St. would hold room for a 2,000 square foot restaurant.

A portion of the original car wash building would remain for a 1,287 square foot retail site. The garage doors would see new glass but keep their overall look.

The old fuel canopy would also stay in place to provide shade for outdoor seating for the restaurant and The STIL.

“The existing gas station canopy will be preserved to commemorate the site’s 50+ year history on the Central Bench,” the application letter notes.

The seating area and landscaping would repalce the parking area along Latah St. About 15 vehicle spaces would be provided behind the buildings.
