DK Donuts plans a fourth location in the Boise area.

The donut house first opened in the 1980s in the former Winchell’s Donuts location at 13th and State. A second location opened in 2016 in Meridian on Meridian Rd. Then, Downtown Eagle.

Now, permit filings indicate a third location will pop up near Boise Towne Square. A filing would add a donut kitchen and store for DK on Milwaukee St. near Fairview Ave.

The long-vacant retail space at 1533 N. Milwaukee St. will get a new kitchen for the donut shop.

DK Donuts stands as the classic donuts-and-coffe-type shop. Its downtown location, in a former service station, supplies doughy rings to statehouse workers and more.

In 2018, KTVB featured Kentucky basketball head coach John Calipari’s love for DK Donuts – particularly its maple bacon bar.

“Now, I’m not a donut eater. I go to a coffee shop, but I looked at these donuts and I saw the cooker in the back and I said, ‘they’re making these right on site’ and I just came in and said, ‘come on, what do you have here,’” Calipari told the station.
