New bank will open first branch in Downtown Boise’s Hoff Building

A new Idaho bank will open in Downtown Boise in coming weeks.

Alpine State Bank applied to remodel a retail space in the Hoff Building at 8th and Bannock for its first branch location.

Its the latest move in a bank branch shuffle in the downtown core. Alpine will move into the former Mountain West Bank spot. Mountain West moved to the former First Interstate location at 9th and Idaho. First Interstate closed that branch after its merger with Idaho Independent Bank.

Alpine State Bank is an offshoot of Bank of Jackson Hole, according to the Jackson Hole News & Guide. Mark T. Houston, a former VP for Wells Fargo and Bank of the West will lead Alpine State Bank as President & CEO.

Alpine says it plans “tech-forward tools and security features,” and hopes to focus on customer service. Bank of Jackson Hole dates to 1982 and operates locations throughout the greater Jackson area.

The bank said it plans additional Boise-area branches.
