The Idaho Alcohol Beverage Control folks gave Idaho bars the OK to sell drinks by the glass for pickup.
The ABC memo gives bars a way to offer cocktails for delivery – and one downtown business said it is considering doing just that.
“This has inspired Whiskey Bar to put together a menu including bottled Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, Whiskey Sours along with many of our bartender creations,” the bar’s managers said on Facebook. The post asked folks for feedback on the idea.
The guidance from ABC said delivery of liquor is prohibited by law, but pickup is OK. The state requires drinks to be provided in a sealed container with a tamper-proof seal.
“This does not mean a paper cup and detachable plastic lid,” the ABC guidance noted. “Sealed means a closed container to prevent consumption, leakage, or alteration of its contents in any fashion or manner, and be sealed with a tamper-proof seal. The product must be picked up by the customer at the licensed premises.”
The state also clarified that beer and wine products can be made available for both pickup and delivery. A number of outlets are already offering this service – you can find some on our list of locations open for takeout.
Many bars throughout the state have been impacted by various social distancing and other orders from public officials looking to slow the spread of COVID-19.
