I have more news to share with you about BoiseDev.
I’m pleased to announce the hiring of Anna Daly Gamboa for the position of reporter. She is an Emmy-winning, experienced journalist who will make an immediate impact on our editorial mission.
This is actually the second time I’ve hired Anna. She previously worked for me at KTVB on the digital sales team and helped define a brand new role there. Together we launched the Idaho Today sales content initiative for the station.
These days, she serves as a full-time media arts and communication professor for the College of Western Idaho. She’ll help amp up our coverage during the school’s summer break over the next three months (and help give me a few days off!). Through our innovative agreement, she will use her work for BoiseDev in the classroom, adding to her breadth of real-world, first-hand experience.
Anna brings more than a decade of experience to BoiseDev, has deep roots in our community as a sixth-generation Idahoan and shares the same high standard of excellence you’ve come to expect. You should start seeing her byline soon.
You also might see Gina Borud’s name pop up in BoiseDev’s Facebook group. For the past few months, she’s brought her marketing and social media talents to beefing up our social and marketing presence as a content producer. She made an immediate impact in making our Instagram presence more robust and also has helped sharpen our Facebook presence (and helps catch some typos and editing errors!).
Separately, I’m currently looking for a new full-time reporter to help carry out a project I announced earlier this month to provide new coverage of the economic impact of COVID in Blaine County and Valley County. Funds for the new position will come from the Facebook Journalism Project through a grant awarded to BoiseDev. I’m currently in the recruiting process and have many great applications – the position remains open. You can find the description here.
Two years ago, BoiseDev formally launched as a solo, community-focused news source. It’s tremendously exciting to see it grow. Each of these moves is possible due to the support of our members as well as sponsors. Thank you for letting me (now us) provide you with local news from a locally-owned business.
