The new Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters shop on 8th St. opened earlier this month after an extensive revamp. BoiseDev first reported on the revamp in the summer of 2017 when Hayden Beverage purchased the business.
The shop mostly shut down before the COVID-19 pandemic started to impact Idaho, but fully shut down after the governor’s order. But work on the revamp continued.
Crews remodeled the outside of the building with upgrades to the façade and patio seating. Inside, new floors, counters and service areas give the shop an updated, more modern feel.
The store retains much of the same feel as before, but a passageway between Dawson and neighbor Zeppole has been filled in
“It’s not a hip glass and steel thing, but a homey really comfortable atmosphere,” owner Dodds Hayden told BoiseDev of the planned revamp in 2017. “New floors, ceiling tiles, lights – all the surfaces just need to be redone. The brand is about the quality of coffee, the people, and being a local roaster.”
The roaster also teamed up with local ice cream maker The STIL to feature ice cream in its downtown shop.
