New dog park open in Southwest Boise

Paddles Up Poke

The City of Boise has added an off-leash dog area to Molenaar Park.

The 20-acre park is located at 2815 S Maple Grove Road between Victory and Targee Streets and is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Molenaar is an on-leash park unless you’re using the brand new fully fenced dog off-leash area.

“Boise Parks and Recreation is proud to offer a variety of options for dog owners and their pets —  this being the latest off-leash option for people living in southwest Boise,” said Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway.

Nearly an acre in size, the area is fully enclosed and includes a separate area for small and shy.

“We ask that owners pick up after their pets – mutt mitts are provided on site along with trash cans for waste,” said Holloway.

Future additions planned for 2021 at Molenaar include a playground and splash pad.
