Boise’s “Restaurant Row” to close to all traffic

Starting Monday, the city will no longer allow any cars or trucks on 8th Street between Main and Bannock.

This will further accommodate the city’s “Boise on the Block” initiative launched earlier in the year. The program expands outdoor patio dining to the curb, allowing bicycles and pedestrians to move around the area in the street. When the city piloted the concept in June, it still allowed delivery traffic between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Now, the city will relocate the delivery zoning along the corridor to Idaho Street between Capitol Boulevard and 9th Street with the same delivery time of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

City officials also started rolling out expanded patios in other areas of downtown in recent weeks, including the Basque Block.
