Upscale Meridian cooking store will close its doors

UPDATE: The retailer now says it will keep the Meridian store open

Everything must go at Sur La Table in Meridian, starting tomorrow.

The upscale cookware store in The Village will start a liquidation sale Friday. The store is one of dozens of locations around the country to close in the wake of the company filing for bankruptcy last month. It is unknown how many employees the closure will affect.

A store manager confirmed the closure and liquidation sale Thursday but declined to give any more details.

The store has 121 locations and plans to shutter 51 due to its financial troubles, according to The Takeout.com. The Meridian location is the only one in Idaho.

It joins two other permanent closures at The Village at Meridian. Both Gordman’s and Pier 1 started liquidation sales this summer. The center will also see a few new stores, including Sierra and Astro Gallery of Gems.
