Originally the entire project was estimated to cost $42 million. Now the project team says it will cost roughly $62 million.
“…The bids to complete the interior work of the new expansion, remodeling of the 1990s section and demolition of the 1950s section of the current hospital came back significantly higher than expected. Nearly $18 million higher,” St. Luke’s McCall Chief Operating Officer/ Nursing Officer Amber Green said.
Over $5 million has been raised through St. Luke’s McCall Foundations Right Care, Right Here, a campaign created by St. Lukes McCall for the expansion.
According to a news release, there were two main circumstances why the cost was significantly higher. The first being construction market dynamics and the second is the lack of affordable temporary housing. Both of these factors directly affect getting and keeping workers in McCall.
St Luke’s has updated the projects timeline. The project team estimates completion by the summer of 2023.
The new timeline:
August ‘20- March ‘21: Redesign process
March- May ‘21: Permit set review
May ‘21-July ‘22: Tenant improvement construction
August ‘22: Expansion occupancy
August ‘22- June ‘23: Renovations and remaining site work
