CWI announces rebrand, complete rollout expected by Fall 2021

Last year BoiseDev told you about College of Western Idaho’s plan to rebrand. Now, CWI officially announced an updated logo, color scheme and mascot after almost 13 years with the old brand.

CWI’s current brand reflects its old values according to the school. CWI said it recognized how higher education evolved and rebranded accordingly.

“The refreshed brand communicates the College’s fearless commitment to its core themes including student success, instructional and inclusive excellence and community connections. CWI has and will continue to empower thousands to build a better future for themselves and their families as they explore new heights, embrace opportunity and pursue their dreams.”

CWI had many people help choose the new brand through activities such as focus groups and surveys.

The new logo uses hues of greens and blues to represent CWI’s relationship with nature.

The news release says people wanted a modern logo, but the new logo also subtly honors the old.The “W” in the new logo is emphasized with a compass arrow that illustrates direction while also paying respect to the former logo that featured a compass.

The college’s new brand will rollout in phases and will be campus wide by Fall 2021.

CWI previously announced it would adopt the Otter as its mascot. Some students and faculty hoped to see an unofficial mascot, Sparkles the Unicorn, adopted instead.
