Sun Valley Resort is opening an additional 6/10ths of a square mile of new skiable terrain today.
Sunrise terrain is part of the Bald Mountain expansion that started in 2018.
Sunrise terrain is located on the south side of Bald Mountain. The new terrain is accessible from the Seattle Ridge quad chairlift. After exploring the Sunrise skiers ride back up the mountain on the new broadway way high-speed quart chairlift.
“Sun Valley Resort has been working on the Sunrise construction expansion for over three years. And we are elated to open up the fruits of our labor to our community, pass holders and guests,” Sun Valley Resort president Tim Silva said. “Between the hardworking snow safety and operations teams at the resort and at Doppelmayr, this endeavor was truly a team effort and showcases the ongoing investment by the Holding family, and the dedication to innovation by our entire management team. This expansion is a huge step for the resort, offering an entirely new experience for our highly skilled skiers and riders to enjoy.”
Sunrise opens after the resort had 51’’ of snowfall over the past week. Now Sun Valley offers nearly four square miles of skiable terrain.
