Hidden Gems in the Gem State, a new monthly local TV show, features places, businesses and adventures around Idaho.
Sophia Doumani left TV news to start something she’d been dreaming about – having her own travel show.
“I wanted to do something fun and something that highlights Idaho and show my personality,” she said.

She started the show from scratch and along with her photographer, shoots, edits and produces each segment.
Idaho adventures

During each 30-minute show, she takes viewers on three different adventures in Idaho.
In the first episode, Doumani went dog sledding in Ashton, UTV riding at Tamarack and hiking at Red Fish Lake.
“I highlight adventures you can do with your family and plan for the next weekend.”
In the second episode, she travels to Southern Idaho where she went duck hunting, visited an Ice Castle, and hiked through Black Magic Canyon.
“You don’t have to be an experienced outdoor person to enjoy Idaho and do new things,” she said.
Small businesses

All of the adventures she goes on are outdoors.
Doumani said she was also motivated to meet and “highlight the small business impacted by COVID-19.”
The show highlighted businesses like Killgore Adventures, Silver Sage Mushing, and Mile High Power Sports.
Doumani owns the show. Its business model depends on typical commercial breaks and program sponsors.
How to watch
The show airs every other Sunday at 7am on KBOI Channel 2 and at 12pm on the CW.
The first season has nine episodes and runs from January through September.
Doumani will also post the full episodes on her YouTube channel. For more information and to see where she goes next, you can also follow her on Instagram and Facebook.
