Tamarack Resort announces new pass that gives local kids free year-round lift access

Starting Memorial Day weekend, Tamarack Resort will offer a new SKY Pass.

SKY (Students-Kids-Youth) is a program that rewards local children for their dedication to school and encourages more time for outdoor activities.

The pass will give K-12 students enrolled in Valley County schools, New Meadows schools or homeschool in one of these two districts free year-round Tamarack lift access.

“The students in our valley represent the future of this community and Idaho,” Tamarack President Scott Turlington said. “As they dream and work toward what they want to be when they grow up, we hope the experiences and memories made on our mountain help shape who they become. This could lead to a lifetime of opportunities.”

In order to help make this new program happen, Tamarack worked with various superintendents, non-profits, homeschool families and private schools.

“This is the type of opportunity we’ve wanted to provide our kids for a long time—a chance to learn and love lifetime sports like skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking,” Cascade Superintendent Jeff Blaser said. “We’re thrilled with how this will strengthen our community and look forward to working with Tamarack to get our kids to the mountain.”

Partners and gear drive

Tamarack is making sure that all kids can participate by partnering with Toby’s Place in McCall and West Central Mountain Youth Advocacy Coalition to supply families in need with winter sports equipment and apparel.

“It’s overwhelming, in a good way, to see the generosity of our community and how so many are coming together to support all of our kids and encourage safe, healthy and positive activities in the outdoors,” Executive Director of Toby’s Place, Suzie Rohnert said.

From March 20 through April 4, a drive for clothes and equipment will be held in several Valley County locations. The donations will go directly to Toby’s Place Shred Shed.

People who donate will get raffle tickets where they can win various prizes such as a Tamarack Stay & Play Package, private ski lessons and gift cards to local businesses.

The raffle drawing is on April 4 at Tamarack. For more information on how to participate in the gear drive or how you can get a SKY Pass, head to Tamarack Resort’s website.
