New Latin restaurant & bar set to open on popular Downtown Boise corner

A new restaurant and bar with a latin twist will open soon in Downtown Boise.

Mala Luna will go into the former Dharma Sushi & Thai spot at the corner of Capitol Blvd. and Idaho St. in the Adelmann building.

Dharma moved a few blocks away to 5th and Idaho late last year, making way for the new offering.

Mala Luna says it will offer what it describes as “Latin inspired cuisine paired” with a “tequila forward bar”. It goes into the small 1,498 square foot space next to Press and Pony and above Spacebar. Crews have worked to make updates to the space since early January.

Mala Luna is owned by Boise Fry Co., along with Press and Pony, Devil’s Den, and Ramapong – all in the Adelmann building.

BFC added Mala Luna to its existing liquor license with the State of Idaho this week, which also covers Press and Pony and Ramapong.

Another restaurant and bar is also on track to open downtown in coming months that puts tequila at the center – Coa de Jima is set for Main St. from the ownership team behind Barbacoa.
