Old Shopko warehouse will see new use, bring hundreds of new jobs

A company that uses plastic waste, recycled wood and scraps to create outdoor projects like decking, railing and trim, is opening a new warehouse in Boise that will create hundreds of jobs.

The AZEK Company is opening its newest location at 1001 E. Gowen Rd. The company has agreed to a long-term lease with LDK Ventures’ Boise Logistics Center.

“The AZEK Company is proud to announce our newest manufacturing facility, our ninth in the U.S. and first in the western part of the country. We were pleased to come to a leasing agreement with LDK Ventures and look forward to many years of partnership,” CEO of The AZEK Company, Jesse Singh said.

Last October we reported that LDK Venture’s purchased the old ShopKo and surrounding area at 1001 E. Gowen Rd. and rebranded it as the Boise Logistics Center. The California-based company develops office, industrial and residential projects.

Now, AZEK is leasing the 355,426 square foot distribution center. Construction of the building will start soon and should be ready to by 2022. LDK’s press release says that this will bring around 200 jobs to the area in the next few years.

“LDK Ventures did an amazing job in improving this facility in a very short time frame to be able to attract such a quality tenant like The AZEK Company,” Partner and Industrial and Investment Advisor at Colliers International, Devin Ogden said. “This is a big win for the Treasure Valley. The positive effect of creating a significant amount of manufacturing jobs in our community, as well as the additional commerce created by them coming here, will be felt for years to come.”
