Long-planned art project on Boise Bench finally set to start

Construction on a Vista Ave. art project is set to begin in June. This is a project that is seven years in the making.

In 2014, a mapping project identified Vista Ave. as an ideal location to add art. In 2018, BoiseDev told you about the City of Boise’s initial plans to install public art in the middle of the street’s medians.

After several proposals were submitted, the Boise City Councilapproved a proposalfrom two Berkley, CA artists: Saori Ide and Jonathan Russell.

The art, titled “Transitions”, will have four sculptures representing the four seasons.

According to the Boise City Department of Arts and History, crews with Triple G Construction, Inc. will landscape and pour concrete starting June 1st.

The sculptures are scheduled to be installed June 14th-16th.

Single lanes on both sides of the median will be closed while the art is being installed.
