Local BBQ catering business set to open in new location with a drive-thru

A BBQ food truck and catering business is taking over the former Pesto’s Pizza in Boise.

Neighbor Tim’s BBQ started in 2014 in Santa Barbara, Calif. and last fall the owners moved their business to Boise.

“To encourage our customers and spread the message that we are all neighbors,” reads a portion of the restaurant’s mission statement. “This message of we are all neighbors’ is that we need to be respectful of one another even to those neighbors whom you may disagree with. We encourage and promote the possibility that you can respect the neighbors you don’t like as much as the neighbors that you do like.”

Tim’s serves a variety of BBQ including Carolina Pork Shoulder, Texas Style Brisket, and Mac and Cheese.

The building off of 7802 W. Goddard Rd. will have a drive-thru — which is somewhat unique for a BBQ joint.

“I think it’s just kind of another example of food trucks looking for brick and mortar space,” Cushman & Wakefield Pacific’s Travis Dunn said. “Traditionally, they’re a food truck operator but they’re able to make use of the drive-thru space. And their plan is to activate some of the common areas and make some renovations to the building and property. Kind of create a friendly environment for people to eat barbecue.”

Dunn says that Neighbor Tim’s hopes to open its Goddard location next month.
