ITD will open up Highway 55 construction bottleneck for holiday weekend

If you are traveling to McCall this weekend you do not need to worry about one-way traffic near Smiths Ferry.

The Idaho Transportation Department announced it would open both lanes on ID-55 near Smiths Ferry because of the holiday.

BoiseDev previously told you that the windy road near Smiths Ferry is undergoing construction to make it safer for drivers. ITD says they expect the road to be complete by fall 2022.

Smiths Ferry will be open for two-way traffic from July 2 through July 5. Afterwords normal summer construction operating hours will resume. Until early September, the road operates Monday through Friday with one-way alternating traffic, there is construction during daytime and nighttime Monday through Thursday, and Friday through Sunday all lanes are open.
