The Meridian Chamber of Commerce and the Meridian Downtown Business Association (MDBA) have merged, and will create a new Meridian Downtown Committee.
The chamber’s new standing committee will focus on downtown and bring funding to the MDBA.
“We look forward to working with the Meridian Downtown business community and work to bring more events and activities to Meridian,” Meridian Chamber of Commerce Sean Evans, President and CEO said in the news release.
The Meridian Downton Business Association is a team of volunteers from the community that “promote economic and cultural vitality” downtown. The news release says the group needed more “sustainable” funding and “operational support” and the Meridian Chamber of Commerce can provide that.
The MDBA assembled a transition team to work with the chamber and later the board unanimously voted to join the chamber. This means the MDBA holds voting seats for the Meridian Downtown Committee of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce. Members of the MBA will now be supporting member level for one year at the chamber, those in the MBA who were already members will receive credit on their account to use toward renewal or events.
