Proposed Meridian subdivision could bring a mix of over 200 houses and townhomes

A large subdivision with a mix of single-family homes and townhomes could come to Meridian.

Gem State Planning is asking Meridian Planning and Zoning for a Rezone and Preliminary Plat for Briar Ridge subdivision, which would be located on the west side of Meridian Rd. between W. Amity Rd. and W. Lake Hazel Rd.

There would be 123 homes, 32 of those would be alley-load homes, and 104 townhomes, the application said. Briar Ridge would go on vacant land that was annexed by the City of Meridian in 2015.

“The time is right to develop the Briar Ridge property,” the application letter said. “Properties in the vicinity are already approved for development or awaiting approval. Briar Ridge is planned as a Traditional Neighborhood Residential development, with a mix of housing types, substantial open space, and exceptional landscaping.”

Over 4 acres of open space are in the design plan. Briar Ridge would have a 2-acre park with a playground, a grassy area for leisure and play, and a picnic shelter. There would also be gazebos near the townhomes, the application said.

There would be trees lining the streets and pathways to connect the community to the park.

The Briar Ridge property will be in front of the commission on August 5th.
