Construction on I-84 Linden underpass begins in Caldwell, closes all lanes

Construction started on the Interstate 84 bridge over Linden St. in Caldwell.

In order to start the project, the Idaho Department of Transportation closed the Linden Street Underpass on I-84 between E. Chicago Street and Smeed Parkway.

The road will be closed until next winter while crews build a new bridge.

In the meantime, motorists are being asked to take a new detour route which runs on Chicago St. 21st Ave. and Smeed Pkwy.

Future construction in this area on I-84 includes adding additional lanes in both directions between the Franklin Road interchange and the Karcher/Midland interchange.
