A new large apartment complex on Overland Rd.could be expanding.
The City of Meridian previously approved phases one and two of the Land Group’sSouthridge Apartments, which consisted of apartment units, a clubhouse with a fitness center, storage, and an office, along with two pools, and a picnic area.
Phase three would bring 164 apartment units, an additional exercise facility, and 331 more parking spaces to the development, the application letter said.
The application letter said the apartments have building designs with mixes of eight and 12 unit buildings. The buildings are two and three stories with one, two, and three-bedroom units.
“The building design for this phase is consistent with phase one and two, which creates quality livable housing which integrates into the fabric of the neighborhood and the overall Southridge master plan,” the application letter said. The architectural theme is reflective of a modern northwest design with quality materials, including a variety of painted hardboard sidings, stone veneers, and architectural asphalt shingles.”
The letter said they would vary the roofline and elevations and switch up colors.
“The accentuated building modulation and a variation of building site rotations will give this project outstanding curb appeal,” the letter said.
Southridge would sit on 8.6 acres, which would result in over the 15 units per acre permitted with its current R-15 zoning designation. The applicant is requesting a change in density.
An application letter from 2017, when the apartments were first passed by the city, says in total there will be 476 units.
The large neighborhood sits on the south side of W. Overland Rd. between S. Ten Mile Rd. and S. Linder Rd.
