BoiseDev first told you about VillaSport, the massive gym, spa, bar, restaurant, and social club coming to Meridian in 2018. The project plans have since been updated.
The City of Meridian granted the applicant a 24-month project extension in April. Now, the city received updated design plans for VillaSport.
The newly submitted application letter says the project will be ‘roughly 84,000 square feet.’ smaller than the 114,300 square feet originally proposed. That’s a reduction of more than 25%.
“The proposed project seeks to develop a family-focused, commercial fitness facility on the property…” the application letter said. “The project will be roughly 84,000 square feet of building within a 2-story shell. The building will be 40’ tall at its entry portal, and 36’-10” tall in its primary mass, stepping down around the building to single-story masses at 14’-6” high. The project will also include spaces for dining, swimming, recreation, and childcare.”
Amenities and parking
The project would include many amenities, including ones we previously told you about, such as the basketball courts, cardio and free weight equipment, a pool deck cafe, and a spa suite.
A couple of amenities that are now on the list include a kid’s outdoor turf area, an aerobics studio, a spin studio, and aquatic programs and equipment that offers swimming for kids and adults in eight different pools.
The applicant now lists 417 parking spaces. The original application sought 567 spaces.
“VillaSport is designed to offer family fitness, recreation, and relaxation all in one contemporary commercial facility,” the application letter said. “Upon arrival at the development, the point of entry is easily identified by its wood-clad entry that frames the lobby storefront. The overall design concept creates an inviting environment using a warm earth tone color palette. Large glazed openings at the lobby, natatorium, and fitness areas also establish a unifying rhythm around the building while creating a feeling of openness with abundant natural light and views.”
The project application says the gym’s big program rooms are ‘organized around a central spine.’
“These large program areas are distributed around the building, stepping down from the high point at the entry lobby to create varied roof and building masses that break up the building’s shell,” the application letter said. “The facade is articulated further with the fenestration and reveal patterning all around the building.”
The project is located at 3100 N. Centerpoint Way and Eagle Rd. It would include access points available through E. Ustick Rd, or through N. Cajun Ln.
“VillaSport is committed to creating quality facilities that provide benefits to the community, enhance the built environment, and are built to last,” the project letter said.
