Slightly fewer than half of Idahoans over 12 are completely vaccinated against COVID-19, but the vaccination rates fluctuate widely across the state.
To find out more about which communities are getting vaccinated and who is holding out or struggling to get access, BoiseDev requested vaccination data by ZIP code statewide.
The data is up to date as of August 19th. It compares the 12 and up 2019 population (the most recent data available on a ZIP code basis) for each ZIP code with the fully vaccinated rate.
The data shows a wide range of vaccination rates even within some of Idaho’s most heavily vaccinated counties, like Ada County with 64% of its 416,000 shot-eligible residents vaccinated. The rates are over 70% southeast Boise and the North End, but decline as you move further toward the Canyon County line. On the other hand, rural Idaho and Payette counties are hovering at 29% and 32% vaccinated respectively.
Some of the highest vaccinated ZIP codes on the map, like one in Fremont County, are due to an extremely small population size that skews the data.
This map also leaves out some ZIP codes that showed an over 100% vaccination rate due to population growth in a small area between 2019 and 2021, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare told Idaho Reports.
