Paved parking lot, new chairs, snowmaking: Bogus preps for winter with upgrades

Ski season is right around the corner and Bogus Basin has announced some mountain improvements.

Bogus Basins improvements include additional lifts, more snow, parking lot fixes, and more.

Bogus announced it would install additional chairs on the Superior and Morning Star lifts.

“This will increase uphill capacity by 30%,” the email said. “Plus, we’ll also be loading up to four riders per chair this season, reducing lift line waits.”

While on the subject of chairlifts, Pine Creek lift will now have a new food trailer stationed at the bottom.

The mountain is also making some snow improvements. Bogus said it gained three new Snowcats for buffing terrain and said it is building out its snow-making system.

“(We’re) doubling the number of portable fan guns (50 total) and the water pumping capacity,” the email said. “This will allow us to make twice as much snow during the same period of time, providing more top-to-bottom coverage.”

The US Forest Service created a ‘Forest Health Initiative.’ The initiative prompted the removal of diseased and dead trees throughout the mountain, creating more room to ski.

Paved parking lot

Bogus has also completed parking lot work.

“The main parking lot has been paved out to the maintenance road and parking lot four has been expanded, providing for at least 200 additional spaces,” the email said. “Also, we’ve installed cameras in all six of our lots so you can monitor availability when you head up.”

Finally, Bogus made some minor improvements in its lodge. It added new furniture, ceiling fans, and a countertop along the third-floor balcony.

Not an improvement, but the email from Bogus also notes that it has limited sales of full access Beyond Bogus and Winter Season Passes, and day tickets this season.
