Pancake House co-owner says sale could mean end of popular McCall restaurant

New owners could take over an iconic McCall restaurant and use the building for something entirely different.

BoiseDev reported in 2018 that the Pancake House and the land it sits on were listed for sale at $3.1 million. Pancake House co-owner Bonnie Bertram told BoiseDev that a deal is in place to sell the Pancake House, but that the deal has not yet closed.

She said she did not know who the new potential owners were but knew it was a company. She added the building would possibly no longer be used as a restaurant any longer by the new owners if the sale went through.

Bertram said it was ‘unfortunate’ how she wouldn’t know more about the sale until December 1.

In 1949, The Pinecrest began serving customers on the site, before switching to the Pancake House name in the late 1950s. In 2002, the old home that housed the restaurant was replaced, with a new 11,000 square foot building.

It includes six grill stations to “accommodate the masses,” and features a menu known for large portions, lots of variety — and of course, pancakes.

Correction: an earlier version of the article listed the wrong real estate agent. An additional line was also added for clarification about the sale.
