City of Meridian confirms new community development director

During Tuesdays Meridian City Council meeting, a new Community Development Director was confirmed.

Cameron Arial was the director for the last four years and is leaving to work in the private sector. Starting December 21, longtime city employee Bruce Freckleton will take over.

Freckleton has worked with the city for almost 20 years. His last 17 were spent as the Development Services manager. He also has 12 years of experience working in the private sector of land development and engineering.

“Bruce has vast experience and strong relationships, and he is committed to Meridian’s vision of being a premier community to live, work, and raise a family. He has helped the Community Development Department transform into its current businesses model and I’m confident in his ability to continue these efforts to improve our service delivery and lead the team,” Meridian Mayor Robert Simison said.

Freckleton has worked for the city throughout its largest period of growth. He has been working closely with Arial to prepare to step into this role.

“I am immensely proud of the work we collectively do for the citizens of Meridian and am proud to call Meridian home,” Freckleton said. “Through the years, I have developed a lot of excellent working relationships with design consultants, developers, builders, city administrators, and other governmental agencies. I look forward to applying my years of experience and perspective to all aspects of Community Development as we write this next chapter of Meridian’s story. I’m ready to work with staff as well as elected leaders in building upon our strong foundation of excellence.”
