Wyoming-based “mountain lifestyle brand” Stio will open a new store in Boise – in a new building under construction in Downtown Boise.

Stio, which started in Jackson Hole in 2011, plans to expand its store base in the coming year, with a store set for 6th St. and Grove St. in the Thomas Logan apartment building under construction in Downtown Boise.

Stio offers outdoor clothing for men, women, and children and currently has four stores. It’s adding three locations, with Freeport, Maine, and Bend, Oregon set first – with the Boise store projected to open next summer.

“Brick-and-mortar retail brings the Stio brand to life,” Stio CEO Stephen Sullivan said. “As a direct-to-consumer brand, our Mountain Studios are a great way to highlight our vision and values and allow us to connect with local communities in a much more meaningful way. The performance in our current Mountain Studios has been outstanding and retail expansion remains an integral part of our long-term growth strategy.”

Though Sulivan calls Stio a direct-to-consumer brand, it also sells through third-party retailers like Idaho Mountain Touring in Boise, a relationship Stio said in a release will continue.

Thomas Logan is one of three buildings under construction or in the planning stage on the half-block along Grove St. between 5th St. and 6th St. Thomas Logan and sister project The Lucy each features ground-floor retail with apartments above. Thomas Logan will include affordable housing units through a low-income housing tax credit program. The Lucy will rent market-rate apartments. The two buildings will connect with a courtyard.

A third building, with retail and office space, will sit along 5th St.
