A new place to grab brunch is opening in McCall.
Last fall, BoiseDev told you about the Blue Bench Brunchette opening on the Boise Bench and Owner Boomer Godsill also teased a McCall location.
The McCall location will soon open with Brunchette on the Lake opening at 317 East Lake Street, in the current Lakefront Oriental Cuisine location. Lakefront tells us they plan to move to a new restaurant.
Huck House Brunchette was the first of the now growing Brunchette chain in Idaho. Godsill called these brunch spots ‘locally-driven.’ Though the menus and atmosphere are similar, there are pieces that make each restaurant unique, such as sourcing from local vendors.
“The Brunchettes family of restaurants, where each one is uniquely branded and ran towards the area that it’s in…to make it feel more locally driven or cater to those people,” Godsill said. “So our goal was not to be a cookie-cutter chain or anything like that, it is to be specific to the area.”
In terms of making the restaurant unique to McCall- Godsill has a meeting set up with the city to operate a pontoon boat where up to 15 people could eat brunch and drink on the lake. The eatery will also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the lake.
Godsill said he has been wanting to open in McCall for a while. He said at one point he was in negotiations with the Pancake House and wanted to continue operating the restaurant with owners George and Bonnie Bertram stepping down. However, the pandemic and other factors impacted how that went down.
“My goal was to buy the Pancake House and keep it the Pancake House,” he said. “They created a great business. There’s no reason for me to want to change it other than, some minor little tweaks. “Honestly, for us, if it works out better this way, where we can bring our own brand into brunch into McCall and it should do great.”
The Brunchette’s serve classic brunch items such as omelets, salads, sandwiches, and a variety of mimosa and Bloody Mary drinks.
Godsill is planning to open Brunchette on the Lake toward the end of May.
