It’s a sign(s): Local sign shop buys competitor

Two Boise sign-making shops are coming together – keeping local ownership. Advanced Sign of Meridian purchased Artsign Design. The deal went through last month.

This summer, the combined company will move into a new production facility in Meridian.

Artsign Design was founded in 1975 by Gary Hall, and grew to serve customers across the Western United States. The company was operated by the third generation of the Hall family, and controlled by Jennifer Boyd until the sale.

“Through a variety of circumstances, I have decided to sell the business now to Advanced Sign, but I won’t be retiring,” Boyd is quoted as saying in a post on Advanced’s site. “I am bringing my team as well. Artsign Design aligns perfectly with Advanced Sign’s unmatched reputation, quality, and caring people. “

Spencer Hill is the President, CEO and owner of Advanced Sign, which launched in 1986. The company also owns a pair of Internet brands – Woodland Manufacturing and Craft Cuts.

The newly combined Advanced Sign employs nearly 70 people, primarily in sign manufacturing services. Terms of the deal were not provided.
