Local students compete in ACHD street sweeper art contest

Sixteen students throughout Ada County in grades six through 12 competed to have their artwork featured on an ACHD street sweeper truck.

The theme for the contest was, “Seasons of Transportation” which focused on the work Ada County Highway District employees do throughout the year.

All the artwork was posted on social media in which the members of the public could vote, and was scored by a panel of judges.

The six winners were announced on March 24th, 2022.

Team Choice: Taelyn Baiza – grade 10, Boise High School

People’s Choice: Bergen DeRosia – grade 9, Renaissance High School

Committee Choice:

Sneha Sharma – Grade 12, Timberline High School

Emmie Dinger – Grade 6, Lewis and Clark Middle School

Carolyn Thurman – Grade 8, Lewis and Clark Middle School

Clara Little – Grade 7, Pi STEM Academy

Winner Clara Little stopped by ACHD’s headquarters this week to get a glimpse of her artwork in action. Her design is titled “Clean is always in season.”

“Clara’s piece is the perfect addition to this sweeper truck that helps to keep roadways clean, protecting the storm and drain system and ultimately our waterways,” said Ada County Highway District on Twitter, “Watch for Clara’s artwork moving about Ada County in the future!”

In addition to the winners having their artwork featured on trucks, each received a $50 gift card and swag bag.
