Starbucks plans another location on Boise Bench

Starbucks continues to grow its location count in Boise. Last month, we told you about a plan to add a new cafe with a drive-thru on the old US Bank site near the Boise Airport. Now the Seattle coffee giant is at work on another plan nearby.

Starbucks submitted a conditional use permit to tear down the old Andrade’s location on Overland Rd. near Orchard (Andrade’s moved down the street in 2020). The building, once home to Shakey’s Pizza, first went up in 1967. Plans show demolition to make way for a new Starbucks.

Andrades owner Javier Andrade sold the property to JRL Properties in 2021, according to property records. The site sits between the Hillcrest Country Club to the south and a Primary Health clinic to the west.

The site plan shows a new 2,105 square foot building along Overland Rd., with a drive-thru that would wrap around the building and a patio behind. A new parking lot would go along the property’s west side.

Starbucks, which has the most coffee shop locations of any chain in the Treasure Valley, would add significant density to the Boise Bench if both the Airport location and Overland stores are built. The chain also operates a location at Vista Ave. at Cassia St., and the two new additions would give it three in the heart of the Bench as framed in by I-84 and the I-184 Connector.

The cafe would need a conditional use permit from the City of Boise for the drive-thru. A hearing date has not yet been set.
