Fall construction changes traffic pattern on ID-55 near Smiths Ferry

Labor Day Weekend brings changes to the construction schedule on Highway 55 near Smiths Ferry.

Both highway lanes will be open through Monday, September 5 to accommodate holiday traffic. Then, starting Tuesday, September 6, the Smiths Ferry project will move to the fall construction schedule. There will be one-way alternating traffic with 15-minute delays Monday through Friday and on weekends if needed.

Crews will be working to pave the road and drivers passing through should expect a gravel surface for the next few weeks.

This schedule will be in place until winter weather stops construction.

The Smiths Ferry project has been ongoing since September 2020. The goal is to make the road safer, which includes widening shoulders and minimizing curves.
