What’s next for Expo Idaho? County to unveil design concepts for land next to Fairgrounds

A large chunk of the Expo Idaho property is one step closer to being revamped.

On October 4, three design firms will share their vision for improving 80 acres of EXPO property. The presentations will be held in the first-floor public hearing room in the Ada County Courthouse. It will also be live-streamed here.

“Our decision to improve this section of Expo Idaho first was supported by information provided to the board by the Expo Idaho Citizens Advisory Committee and the Urban Land Institute,” the Ada County Commissioners wrote in a joint statement. “It has been critically important to the board that robust community outreach and expert data be used as we move forward with revitalizing this community asset. The design competition is an important milestone in our process and allows us to see firsthand how some of the best design firms in the country envision using the community recommendations to create spaces everyone can enjoy.”

A selection committee made up of county staff will make a recommendation to the board after the hearing. Following this, the board will either accept or reject the recommendation during the open business meeting on October 11.

The three design firms include RIOS plus Boise-based Stack Rock Group, PORT, and Eagle-based The Land Group.
