New Hilton hotel planned for Meridian

A new hotel is planned for Meridian.

Hilton Home2 Suites would sit at 200 S. Brooklyn Ave, which is near the intersection of Eagle and Franklin roads. It would be six stories plus a rooftop amenity deck.

The 84,840 square foot building would include 129 guestrooms along with a ground-level lobby, lounge area, fitness center, breakfast area, meeting room, indoor pool, and outdoor patio space. There are 189 planned standard parking stalls, including six that are accessible.

“The proposed overall design language for the hotel is modern and contemporary and characterized by strong horizontal and vertical lines with a flat roof,” the application said. “The panelized cladding system creates simple straight lines that delineate the composition of the overall building mass and defines each floor level visually. In its simplicity, the overall design can be easily understood and be translated as ‘familiar’ which a branded hotel seeks to establish.”

There are over 9,500 square feet of open space planned across the ground level and amenity deck.

“There are four open seating areas on the ground level; one to the south near the entrance of hotel, two to the north adjacent to either side of the indoor pool and one at the rooftop deck open space,” the application said.”These outdoor seating areas make the building edge much more inviting and engaging and speaks to the “human scale” environment near the main entry points to the building.  A variety of plants and planters are proposed along with overhead trellis for weather protection.”

The hotel will still need planning and zoning and city council design review approval.
