More than 40 units of affordable housing planned near Settlers Park in Meridian

An affordable housing apartment community is planned near Settlers Park in Meridian.

The Wood Rose Apartments would sit at 1160 W Ustick Road. The project application said the community would have seven residential buildings with 46 total units and one clubhouse.

The two-story garden-style apartments would have a mix of “comfortable” one, two, and three-bedroom units at an “affordable price.” The application notes that these units will be affordable to people making 60% of the county median income or below.

“The proposed housing community will provide two-story garden-style units that will blend in nicely with the residential neighborhoods nearby and fits in well with the Future Land Use Designation of Mixed-Use Community. Furthermore, the development will provide housing that is affordable for people at sixty percent of the county median income and less, which is desperately needed in Meridian.”

For amenities, the units would come equipped with central air conditioning, on-site storage, and a deck or patio. There would also be a playground, a park, and a clubhouse with a community room, kitchen, seating area, and laundry room.

There are 90 planned parking spaces, including 47 that are covered.

There would also be three Permanent Supportive Housing units for Our Path Home. This service would provide residents with support to obtain permanent housing.

The applicant is looking for conditional use permit approval from the Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission.
