Utah-based outdoor gear & clothing store set for old Boise mall-area trampoline park

Last February, BoiseDev reported that Altitude Trampoline Park on Milwaukee St. near Boise Towne Square Mall was closing for good.

We now know that Utah Based company, Al’s Sporting Goods, will move into the 43,000-square-foot space next to Barnes & Noble.

“Al’s Boise is a tenant improvement of the existing Altitude Trampoline Park space that will remodel the entry, interior, and landscape to create a high-end retail experience,” a permit application to the City of Boise notes.

The sporting good store carries clothing and gear for just about all outdoor sports and all seasons.

Al’s first opened in 1921 as a small tackle and bicycle shop in Logan, Utah and in 2017, a second store opened in Orem. In 2020, the store moved across state lines and opened a store in Idaho Falls off 17th Street. The Boise store will be Al’s fourth location.

The location off Milwaukee is no stranger to sporting goods stores. Prior to Altitude Trampoline Park, the location was home to Sports Authority, which closed in the summer of 2016 as part of a company-wide liquidation. Sports Authority purchased and rebranded the former Gart Sports store in the same location.

Al’s will need design review approval from the City of Boise. A hearing date has not yet been set.

Al’s will join another new entrant into the sporting goods space when Scheels opens a large-format store in Meridian, expected next year.
