Valley Regional Transit is looking for feedback from Canyon County residents on what they hope to see for the future of transit in the area.
Connected Canyon County is a project to improve transportation services in the fast-growing communities. VRT said that the lack of affordable housing options is causing people to live further away from jobs, services, and recreation.
For the last 18 months, the agency collected information from those living in the area to further understand the public’s needs.
“We’ve worked to understand needs and identify transportation options that improve access to important destinations and activities in Canyon County while considering potential funding challenges,” the agency wrote on its website.
VRT is encouraging the people of Canyon County to submit ideas and take surveys posted online to expand the voice of the community further. The agency said it is working to take the feedback it’s heard so far and apply it to bus service, customer support, and other functions. VRT says it will take additional feedback to guide its effort.
VRT will also host open houses and virtual town halls for those who would like to meet with the staff for further discussion. To learn more about what people in the community have mentioned, you can check out their summary report here.
