A new place to buy, sell and trade video games, music and movies is set to open at Boise Towne Square.
Work is underway on a new location for EntertainMART, in the former Christopher and Banks store location near Dillards on the mall’s second level. Christopher and Banks closed in early 2021.
EntertainMART carries a large selection of physical media entertainment, from DVDs to books to video games. The store typically stocks Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD movies, new and used video games, collectibles including toys and posters, CDs, collectibles, sports cards, and books.
Founded in 1980 in Missouri as Book Barn – it specialized in selling used books. The store was later renamed Vintage Stock as it expanded beyond books. In 2013, the company acquired a pair of EntertainMART locations in Missouri and Colorado and began expanding. In late 2016, it opened new stores in former Hastings locations – including in Coeur d’Alene.
EntertainMART has a number of parallels to the former Hastings chain, which declared bankruptcy in 2017 and closed stores across the nation, including in Boise. It offers a similar mix of merchandise, and even calls itself “your entertainment superstore,” the former Hastings tagline.
The store is set to open in the coming weeks.
The new store, at just under 4,500 square feet, fills one of the largest remaining vacancies at the mall. Only the former Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister stores are larger (Hollister moved to a new location in 2019). The former Sears store is owned separately from the mall, and a plan to tear the building down has been floated with the City of Boise.
